You could spend an absolute fortune on the blingiest website but if no-one sees it when they log on to do a search then you might well wonder if it was worth it! This is what can happen without proper search engine optimisation.

Search Engine Optimisation is a tool that should be used to increase your “findability.” There are some golden rules that should be followed to ensure that your website does its job of finding you clients.

Why Is SEO Important?

Simply put, Search Engine Optimisation helps to ensure that people find your website when they are searching for a specific thing. When I design a site I incorporate SEO best practices as the norm. This includes, amongst other things, proper use of keywords and phrases and optimised images. Search engines use algorithms to try and give the best match for a particular search that a user has entered. If you have the right SEO setup you will increase the chances of your site being found but beware of anyone who says they can get you ranked number 1 on google – this is highly unlikely!

How do i know if the seo on my site is set up properly?

If you designed your site yourself without much prior knowledge (let’s be honest – didn’t we all?) then the chances are that is not optimised. Even if you hired a a designer, unless you specifically agreed on them including SEO setup, then it might not be great.

Things to consider:

  • Did you research and use keywords and phrases?
  • Do your images have alt text?
  • Did you create a site title and tagline?
  • Did you create a site icon
  • Does your site contain internal and external links?
  • Is your site mobile responsive?
  • Do you regularly add fresh content eg blog?
  • Is there a sitemap?
  • Is your content original?
  • Did you add good meta information

If you can’t see your question here, just send me a message.

Hmmm….. a precise answer is very difficult to give because every project is unique. After our initial strategy call I’ll be better positioned to give you a quote. You can see my pricing here Extra costs are usually due to the amount of input I need to make towards things other than the design and functionality of the site.

Generally, once the strategy meeting is concluded and a 50% deposit is received, it takes around 4 – 6 weeks to build a site. Hold ups can occur if images and content aren’t received in time or aren’t “ready-to-go,” if there are unavoidable tech issues, if hosting and domains aren’t set up etc. It is possible to get things done a bit quicker if necessary.

Easy, just send me a message from the Contact page.

No, I would say my niche is small service based businesses As you can see I have done sites for acupuncturists, massage therapists, chiropodists and road hauliers!

Don’t worry, that’s what the initial strategy call is for.

If needed I can help you with this. It is best practice for you to own your own domain name and have your own hosting so that you “own” your website once it is handed over.

Yes, it’s what I have been trained in. That’s not to say I can’t look at your Wix/Weebly/Go Daddy sites and offer advice and recommendations but I would probably not do any actual work on these sites.

Yes! It is good practice to set up a new site following best SEO practices. This includes keyword research, optimising images, adding alt text to images, making the site mobile responsive amongst other things.

A website does need regular maintenance, not least for good SEO reasons. You will be shown how to keep your site up to date but you may choose to take out a monthly VIP maintenance plan so you don’t need to worry about it.
